Fully degradable plastic bags refer to plastic bags that can be completely degraded into water and carbon dioxide. The main source of this fully degradable material is corn, cassava, etc. that are processed into lactic acid, also known as PLA. It has good biodegradability and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions after use, ultimately generating carbon dioxide. It does not pollute the environment and is very beneficial to protecting the environment. It is a recognized environmentally friendly material.

 

Now that we understand the definitions of the two, we can learn how to distinguish them.

 

1. Observe the appearance: The raw materials of fully degradable plastic bags are PLA, PBAT, starch or mineral powder materials. There will be special marks on the outer bags, such as the common "PBAT+PLA+MD". For degradable plastic bags, the raw materials It is made of PE and other materials, and common ones include "PE-HD" and so on.

2. Touch with your hands: Due to different raw materials, the feel of the two is also very different. Unlike degradable plastic bags that feel plasticky, fully degradable plastic bags feel silky and soft to the touch.

 

3. Smell the smell: Biodegradable plastic bags are usually odorless or have a plastic smell, while fully degradable plastic bags, especially starch-based bags, will have a faint grain aroma, and the material itself will also have some corn, cassava and other aromas.

 

4. Combustion test: The burning of traditional plastic bags will produce black smoke and a pungent smell, and finally burnt particles will be left behind. There is no thick smoke or pungent smell when burning fully degradable plastic bags. After burning, only organic powder remains, which can be decomposed and absorbed.

 

 

3. Price difference: Due to the limitations of material production capacity and cost, the current price of good-quality biological plastic bags in large supermarkets is basically 0.5-2 yuan each, which is higher than traditional plastic bags which are only about 0.2 yuan. Quite a few.
